Managed by Brass Bands England, each Elevate partnership results in an original creative output – a concert, digital project, collaborative performance or outreach project.
I was paired with Regent Brass, a forward-thinking band based in Camden, north London. Over the course of several months I got to know the band at rehearsals and performances, before running a creative workshop designed to draw out members’ creative imaginations.
After making imaginary animals out of tin foil and thinking up impossible brass bands, we focused on the work of Fluxus, the international collective of artists and performers during the 1960s and 70s. This resulted in BRASS FLUXUS, a book of creative instructions for banding inspired by the Fluxus Performance Workbook.
At the launch event on Saturday 10 January 2026, the band performed a selection of instructions from the book at Jackson Lane Arts Centre.
